About Raised Bed Forum
Raised Bed Forum started in 2019 as a single sub-thread on a general gardening board, split off once the raised-bed questions outnumbered everything else combined. Today it's a standalone community of about 12,400 members, organized around four categories: staff-written Guides for the stuff worth getting right the first time, Buying & Kits for the endless (and genuinely useful) debates over what to purchase, Pest & Disease for diagnosing whatever's going wrong this week, and Harvest Show, the lowest-stakes, highest-traffic category on the whole site.
We're not trying to be the biggest gardening forum on the internet, and we're specifically not trying to cover in-ground farming, homesteading, or livestock — there are better communities for those. Raised beds, grow bags, small-footprint vegetable growing, and the specific logistics of filling, watering, and maintaining a bounded growing space are the whole focus. That narrowness is on purpose; it's why the guides can get specific about bag counts and bed dimensions instead of staying vague enough to apply to every growing situation at once.
How the guides work
Guides are written and maintained by staff and a small group of long-time contributors, unlike thread replies, which are open to anyone. A guide gets revisited and updated when something in it goes stale — a product gets discontinued, a price moves enough to matter, or enough members point out a better approach in the comments below it. If you think a guide has something wrong, the fastest way to get it fixed is to say so in the thread underneath it.
The team

Ground rules
- Be specific. "What should I plant" gets a worse answer than "what should I plant in a 2x4 bed in zone 6 with afternoon shade."
- Cite your zone somewhere — your signature is the easiest place, and it saves everyone a round of clarifying questions.
- Disagreements about methods are fine and common. Disagreements about whether someone's garden counts as "real" gardening are not welcome here.
Questions about the forum itself, account issues, or guide corrections can go to the moderation team through any thread — we read everything, even the ones that start with "this might be a dumb question."
